Baked Greek Meatballs (Keftedes)

Baked Greek Meatballs (Keftedes) Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb (or a combination)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or 1/2 cup chopped stale bread

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • Cesira Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

    • In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, oregano,  salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

    • Using your hands or a small scoop, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

    • Drizzle the meatballs lightly with olive oil.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through.

    • Serve warm, garnished with extra chopped parsley or mint if desired. These meatballs pair well with a side of tzatziki sauce, pita bread, and a Greek salad.
