Baked Greek Meatballs (Keftedes)
Baked Greek Meatballs (Keftedes) Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef or lamb (or a combination)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 cup breadcrumbs or 1/2 cup chopped stale bread
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Cesira Olive oil for drizzling
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Using your hands or a small scoop, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Drizzle the meatballs lightly with olive oil.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through.
Serve warm, garnished with extra chopped parsley or mint if desired. These meatballs pair well with a side of tzatziki sauce, pita bread, and a Greek salad.
